Mixed Media

In a studio class we recently did a mixed media piece. I chose to do a multi-paneled piece off of a theme from a Bible verse. The most interesting parts to me were photographing the type and building my own type out of the foggy starfield texture. To get the shape I used some photos I took a couple years ago where I had my wife spell out “luz”, Spanish for light, using an iPod screen in a pitch black room, while I left the shutter open. It made some fun gestural strokes. I used those strokes to create the type in the final piece. It was a fun project and I'm happy with the results overall.
